How do I make an appointment?

We believe that knowledge comes in many ways — one of which is knowing how you can keep yourself, your family, and the people within your workplace and community safe. We went ahead and provided you with general FAQs about the COVID-19 RT-PCR Test — see below. Now, we would like to take that step a notch higher by providing you with an option where you can get actual confirmation on the presence of the coronavirus.

We believe that the first way to take care of your own health is by knowing what you need to act on. This way, we become one step closer to protecting ourselves and the people around us.

FAQS

What is RT-PCR?

RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) is a laboratory testing method used to detect the presence of a pathogen such as the coronavirus to confirm if a patient is currently infected with it.

It is the gold-standard and recommended method for COVID-19 testing (DOH).

Who can get tested?

Anyone, with or without symptoms, can get tested on-site.

Is there anything I need to prepare before getting swabbed?

Be prepared to disclose medical conditions and history with honesty during your scheduled appointment. Follow MyHealth’s safety protocols for on-site operations.

What should I expect from the nasopharyngeal and/or oropharyngeal swabbing procedures?

For the nasopharyngeal swab, the swabber will properly position your head for the swabbing. A long, thin swabbing material will be inserted in a nostril. The swab should reach depth equal to the distance from the nostril to the outer opening of the ear. The same swab will be inserted again in the other nostril.

For oropharyngeal swabs, another swabbing material will be inserted in the mouth to swab the tonsil area without touching the tongue and other areas.

What should I do while waiting for results?

RT-PCR Test results are released 24-48 hours after the swabbing. Please observe proper self-quarantine and isolation while waiting for your results.

How will I get my results?

The standard turnaround time for the results for RT-PCR Tests is 24-48 hours. You can access your results in the MyHealth Patient Portal. Instructions on how to access these will be given before the swabbing procedure.

If you encounter problems accessing the results after the standard turnaround time, you may send an email to beatcovid@myhealth.ph.

What are my next steps after getting my results?

Whichever your results, it is highly recommended to have a consultation with a physician for final assessment. A physician can also guide you on how to properly proceed. Always continue to monitor your health and practice proper hygiene and physical distancing.

How is an RT-PCR Test different from a Rapid Antibody Test for COVID-19?

The RT-PCR test looks for the genetic material or current infection of the coronavirus. The Antibody Rapid Test only detects the antibodies against the coronavirus, but not specific for COVID-19.

Here’s a more detailed information on RT-PCR.

Can the test result diagnose if a patient has coronavirus?

Yes

It can confirm if a patient has a current infection of coronavirus and if it is indeed COVID-19.

No

It only detects the antibodies and not the presence of coronavirus.

Negative results also do not necessarily mean that you do not have COVID-19.
