An endoscopic procedure involves inserting an instrument into a natural opening in the body in order to probe deeper into the different organs within for a more accurate diagnosis of an ailment.
Gastroscopy
A gastroscopy helps to diagnose symptoms such as indigestion, repeated vomiting or vomiting blood, difficulty swallowing and anemia. Gastrointestinal conditions such as gastritis/duodenitis, ulcers, Barrett’s esophagus and early signs of cancer may also be verified and confirmed with this procedure.
Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy enables a gastroenterologist to examine and evaluate the colon. It is done to screen for colorectal cancer, iron-deficiency anemia, uncomplicated lower abdominal pain or change in bowel habits of at least two months duration without known inflammatory bowel disease.
Proctosigmoidoscopy
Proctosigmoidoscopy allows a physician to look inside the anus, rectum, and the lower part of the large intestine (colon) for unusual growths, swelling, bleeding or haemorrhoids. This equipment can also remove small growths and collect tissue samples.
